Glamping Under Thar Stars: A Night in the Golden City of Jaisalmer

There is something deeply peaceful about the desert. In Jaisalmer, the sand has a golden color that matches the sandstone architecture of the city's ancient living fort. My destination campaign here focused on capturing the vastness of the Thar Desert.
We set up our camp in the Sam Sand Dunes, located about 40 kilometers from the main city. Glamping here is a premium experience, combining the rustic wilderness of the desert with high-end luxury tents featuring plush beds, wooden furniture, and private bathrooms.
The highlight of the day was a camel trek as the sun began its descent. The Thar Desert dunes ripple in the wind, creating patterns that look almost like digital waves. When the sun dips below the horizon, the temperature cools, and the sky lights up with millions of stars—completely free of city light pollution.
We spent the evening sitting around a campfire, listening to Langha and Manganiyar musicians perform traditional desert songs, their voices carrying across the dunes. For travelers looking to disconnect and experience the heritage of Rajasthan, Thar is a sanctuary.
